Pure Trance – Uhhhhh…I liked it?

I just got done reading Pure Trance by Junko Mizuno.  It is out of print but the guys at my local comic shop were nice enough to let my buy their personal copy.  Yay for supporting local business!  I read the lengthy piece in one sitting and I have to say.  I really liked it.  It is effed up beyond all belief, but it was super cute, clever and moving.  There is something nonsensical about the Mizuno mangas I’ve read that I find very charming.  If you are into the cute and macabre, I would definitely suggest trying to track down a copy.

Terribly Adorable and Beastly!

Leslie Levings is the soul female of the group at TheAtrox.com, a blog that has tons of super cute and funny comics (kitty faced kitty!).  My favorite thing that Leslie produces is a line of orignial sculptures called, “Beastlies”.  They are adorable and strongly reminisent of the utter cuteness and mild morbitity of the classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are.  I own a couple so far, both bought from conventions.  If you would like one of your own check out Leslie’s etsy.  Right now there are just T-Shirts, but keep an eye out, she is always creating new critters to sell.

Need a fun customizable avatar for your forum?  Face your Manga has tons of fun options.  You can actually get these little guys to be pretty recognizable which is always impressive when you just have a few sets of features to select from.  Plus the Japaneseness of it is hella cute.

Unfortunately they have no Unicorn faces to choose from.  What can you do?
